I believe there are some channels that are simply dedicated to subscribing to everyone, and their usernames reflect their 'passions'. I don't know what the purpose is; it grants no rewards neither... bragging rights?
Would people actually try to be competing to collect subscriptions?
It wouldn't surprise me. There's more pointless things people do with their free time. Like posting comments on 98% of a sneeze fetishist's blog!
