That's a very good question, Billy.
I am one of those viewers that also edits for personal fun, so size is always a good thing, but I accept that there are some people just starting out and only have a webcam and standard connection, but it's not a big issue...if you're just starting.
The nest step is personal preferences; I'm into high harsh and nose in plain sight, with vocal buildups. Mega bonus points if this gets consideration.
Because the main thing I look for is number. Quantity over quality. But if the quality is high, then there's more room to be reasonable.
Basically, it's not $1/min, or even $2/min. It's $1/sneeze or less. Therefore, if you sell a 5 min vid for $5, my mind assumes there is at least 5 sneezes there, otherwise what is there should be phenomenal. And if you sell a 10 min vid for $16 dollars...yes, 16 sneezes. From what I've seen it usually hovers around $0.50 - $1.00 in this range, as most are very generous with number($.16/sneeze on one video I have).
As said, the part of high definition plus talent usually help if a video seems high. But woe if someone gets burned with a crap video that gains a following; their second one never leaves the launch pad.
